Course Terms & Conditions
By booking a course or session with Scottish Dive School, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
Bookings, Cancellations & Rescheduling
All course fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required if you need to cancel or reschedule a session.
Cancellations or requests to reschedule made with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a £50 rescheduling fee for a confined water/pool session or a £75 rescheduling fee for an open water training day. Failure to attend a booked session without prior notice may result in the loss of that session and the applicable rescheduling fee being charged.
Medical Requirements
All participants must complete the required Fit to Dive medical questionnaire before taking part in any in-water training. Participants are responsible for informing Scottish Dive School of any medical conditions or changes to their health that may affect their ability to dive safely. Where required, appropriate medical clearance must be obtained before participating in any in-water training.
Participants Under 18
Anyone under the age of 18 must have consent from a parent or legal guardian and must be accompanied throughout their training. The parent or guardian must remain either in the water where appropriate, poolside, or at the shore/training location for the duration of the session.
Course Completion & Certification
Certification is subject to successfully completing all required knowledge development, skills and performance requirements. Payment for a course does not guarantee certification. If additional training is required to achieve the necessary standard, additional sessions may be arranged and may incur an additional charge.
Equipment
Any equipment provided by Scottish Dive School must be treated with reasonable care. Participants may be charged for equipment that is lost or damaged through negligence or misuse. Where equipment hire is not included in the course price, any applicable rental charges will be clearly stated before booking.
Safety, Fitness to Dive & Diving Conditions
The safety of our students, staff and Dive Team is our priority. Scottish Dive School reserves the right to refuse participation in, stop or cancel a dive, pool session or other in-water activity if an instructor believes that a participant is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, is suffering from the after-effects of alcohol or drugs, including a hangover, or is otherwise not fit or safe to dive.
The final decision on whether a participant is fit to take part rests with the supervising Scottish Dive School instructor. Where participation is refused or a session is stopped for these reasons, the session will be treated as missed and no refund will be provided. Any additional training or rescheduling required may incur the applicable rescheduling fee.
Open water diving is dependent on suitable weather, water and diving conditions. Scottish Dive School reserves the right to change the location, postpone, reschedule or cancel training where conditions are considered unsuitable or unsafe. Where Scottish Dive School cancels or reschedules a session due to conditions or circumstances outside the student's control, an alternative session will be arranged.
All participants are expected to follow instructions given by Scottish Dive School staff and instructors. Scottish Dive School reserves the right to stop a participant from taking part where their behaviour could reasonably put themselves or others at risk.
Changes to Courses
Scottish Dive School reserves the right to amend course dates, times, locations or instructors where reasonably necessary.
